The Dogs of SunBonnet Farm

All farms should have dogs because dogs make everything better. Two dogs live at Sunbonnet Farm; Jessie and Noel. New: We are also fostering a young Catahoula named Geri. Please contact us if you are interested in giving him his forever home.

Noel is a 13 year old Shetland Sheepdog. Noel and I competed in AKC, NADAC, and CPE agility trials. Noel has Novice AKC titles in Jumpers with Weaves, and Standard, and she has Novice and Open titles in NADAC Jumpers and Regular. Noel is now retired from competition, but she still enjoys playing on low 'senior friendly' agility equipment.

Jessie

If some irresponsible people had not abandoned Jessie as a six week old puppy, near our farm, she never would have come into my life.
But their loss was my gain. Jessie is an amazing friend and companion. One early morning we were calling our cows to the barn to be milked. Instead of cows answering our calls, three frantic, lost and starving puppies came running joyously to us. We found homes for two of the pups, but one of them, Jessie, we decided to keep.

Jessie is a wonderful dog. She is high speed and enthusiastic- Not a good apartment pet, but a perfect fit for a 50 acre farm.  Loyal and eager to please, Jessie helps out on the farm whenever she can.  Without Jessie's help, it would be very hard to find missing newborn calves. Jessie also helps head off runaway cows, drive the calves into the barn, and helps look for any missing animals.

Geri
Geri Available for Adoption

Geri is a young male Catahoula mix that I am fostering for Aloha Ilio Rescue. He is about a year old, heartworm negative, vaccinated, and neutered.

Geri is a little shy of new people, but he has warmed up to me and loves following me around the farm. He loves playing with Jessie, and would do great in a multi-dog household. He also enjoys running and training, so I think an ideal home would be one with an active owner who would train him in some dog sport (agility, rally, nose work, obedience, etc).

Although he is energetic, Geri can also be a good calm boy when there is nothing else for him to do. He is crate trained and house trained.
